About Us

Welcome to Eckington School

Richard Cronin, Headteacher

As a parent and the Headteacher of Eckington School, I am acutely aware of the expectations and aspirations we all hold for our children. We want them to be safe, respectful, confident, resilient, and successful in everything they do. That is why we are proud to promote The Eckington Way: a shared commitment to being safe, calm, polite and kind, prepared, and ambitious. These values are at the heart of everything we do and underpin the high standards we expect from all members of our school community.

At Eckington School, we believe that education should be an extremely rich and rewarding experience, not just a preparation for the next stage of life. Our aim is to develop confident, well-qualified young people who understand the importance of education and the vital link between strong academic outcomes and future success. Attendance plays a crucial role in this journey. Being present at school every day lays the foundation for success as it helps students secure the knowledge, skills, and habits they will need to thrive in further education, employment, and adult life. Excellent attendance reflects the reliability and commitment that employers and universities value so highly.

We are an ambitious school, and we expect everyone connected with Eckington (students, staff, governors, and families) to share that ambition. Together, we aim to inspire and support every student to reach their full potential, whatever their starting point. We want our young people to aim high, challenge themselves, and leave Eckington equipped with the qualifications, character, and confidence to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Our well-qualified school leaders, teachers, and support staff work closely with students and parents to create a strong partnership with one common purpose: to maximise every child’s potential. Our growing Sixth Form offers a wide range of A-level and vocational courses, welcoming students from Eckington and other local schools. This creates a vibrant and aspirational post-16 community where many students progress to university, higher-level apprenticeships, or other exciting opportunities.
