  • Eckington School Students Show the Power of Community

Eckington School students and staff with their record donations to local Eckington Foodbank

Students at Eckington School have shown outstanding generosity and community spirit by donating an incredible 1,200+ food items to Eckington Foodbank; the largest total since the initiative began three years ago!

With a school population of 1,150 students, this achievement is particularly impressive and reflects the compassion and social responsibility of Eckington’s young people committed to supporting others in their local community.

The donations will make a real difference to families and individuals facing hardship over the Christmas period. As the cost of living continues to put pressure on many households, local foodbanks remain an essential source of support, and the contribution from Eckington students will help ensure that no one goes without during difficult times.

This year’s appeal included a friendly inter-form competition, encouraging teamwork and collective effort. Special congratulations go to the top 3 forms: 7C (98 items); 7B (108 items) and 11H (75 items)!

The initiative strongly reflects The Eckington Way, with students demonstrating kindness, responsibility and respect, while showing pride in making a positive contribution beyond the school gates.

Mr Richard Cronin, Headteacher of Eckington School, said:

“I am incredibly proud of our students. Donating over 1,200 items — more than one per student — shows what can be achieved when a school community comes together with a shared purpose. This initiative perfectly captures The Eckington Way: looking out for others and making a real difference.”

Eckington School would like to thank all students, families and staff who supported the appeal as well as the dedicated volunteers at Eckington Foodbank, whose work continues to support those most in need in the local community.
