Eckington School students celebrate GCSE results

There was excitement on Thursday 21 August as Year 11 students at Eckington School opened their GCSE and Level 2 vocational qualification results.
A total of 199 students sat exams across 27 different subjects, reflecting the breadth and ambition of the curriculum. A third of students achieved a strong pass (grade 5 or above) in both English and maths, while more than half secured a standard pass (grade 4 or above) in these key subjects.
The class of 2025’s achievements show a continued upward trend in the highest grades for the school with more students earning a grade 7 or above in both English and maths than in the previous three years. Particularly delighted are the seven students who achieved exceptional outcomes with grade 7 or above in more than eight subjects.
Subjects across the school’s broad creative and academic spectrum show strong performances: students exceeded expectations in fine art, drama, photography, biology, chemistry, physics, and travel and tourism. In addition, subjects including fine art, business, English language, English literature, French, media studies, biology, chemistry, physics, combined science, travel and tourism, and hospitality and catering had notable success at the highest grades (9–7).
Headteacher, Richard Cronin, said: “Our Year 11 students have put in the hard work and shown resilience, and commitment, and it’s been wonderful to see them receive their results, of which they are so deserving. We are proud of them all. Our thanks also go to their families for supporting them through their studies and to our dedicated staff who have worked with our students every step of the way.
“We are looking forward to welcoming many of the students back in September, where they will take the next step in their education, at Eckington Sixth Form. Wherever they choose to continue their journey, we wish them well and look forward to hearing of their future successes.”
