Eckington School celebrates record-breaking GCSE results for 2026

Eckington School students are celebrating today as they opened their GCSE and Level 2 vocational qualification results and achieving record-breaking results for the school.
A total of 226 students sat exams across 23 different subjects, achieving significantly improved results across the board:
- 44.2% achieved a Grade 5 or above in English and Maths, a staggering 10.9% improvement on last year’s results
- 61.5% of students secured Grade 4 or above in English and Maths, an 8.5% improvement on 2025’s results
Further success was also seen with 12.7% of students achieving Grade 7 to 9s. Three particularly brilliant students achieved the exceptional outcome of Grade 7 to 9 in all their subjects. Students exceeded expectations and received the highest grades in Art, Photography, and Triple Science. The Total Attainment 8 score has also improved from 40.61 to 44.01, almost half a grade.
After its challenging Ofsted Report in 2022 and joining Chorus Education Trust in 2023, 2026 has shown that the hard work of students, staff, and the school community is paying off. With its 2026 Ofsted report highlighting the significant improvements in the school, and now its record-breaking Level 3 and A level results and Level 2 and GCSE results; Eckington School is going from strength to strength.
Headteacher, Richard Cronin, said: “We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and their outstanding achievements. These are the best results Eckington School has seen in over a decade, with record-breaking performance in a number of areas. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work, resilience and commitment of our students.
“These results are particularly significant given the improvements we have made over the past four years. Alongside the positive Ofsted inspection last academic year, they are a clear reflection of the sustained progress being made across the school and the commitment of our students, families and staff.
“Every student should be proud of what they have achieved. My thanks go to our families for their continued support and to our dedicated staff for the hard work and commitment they have shown throughout this journey.
“We look forward to welcoming many students back to Eckington Sixth Form in September. We also wish all students every success as they continue their education. This is a fantastic moment for Eckington School and we are immensely proud of every student.”
